All the engines are powered with approximately 7,000 hours life (against the statistical expectation of 10 percent attrition) or 250,000 km vehicle application. Increase in user base for gas engines
During the recent years there has been a shift in consumer sentient by embracing
alternative energy powered vehicles. This has led to the rise in the gas engine
segment and positively impacting the companies manufacturing them. The forecast
also predicts this segment to grow at a CAGR of around 4.1% by 2017, that would

Corporation. The Cooper gas engine family consists of a 1,2, 3, 4- and 6-cylinder
engine. While the 2-cylinder engine has a fuel capacity of 1.56 and 1.89 litre, they
are available in both diesel and gas variants. Both the 3 cylinder engine and 6
cylinder engine has a bore diameter of 107 mm, with a fuel capacity of 3.4 litre and
6.8 litre respectively. The range of gas engine is available in the range from 3.5 kva
to 1,000 kva in 2 cylinder engine, 3 cylinder engine and 4 and 6 cylinder engine
variants. In addition to the above, Cooper has designed a sub 1L multipurpose
engine with capacity of 428cc-860 cc for exports to the US for marine, agricultural
and automotive purposes.


Sophisticated machinery and micro-monitoring


Cooper has always been on the forefront of contemporary technology. Given the fact
that an engine comprises of more than 700 parts, every stage of production is
crucial. Cooper manufacturers a number of engine components such as cylinder
liners, cylinder sleeves, pistons, flywheel etc., at its foundry. Hence there is better
quality check over the process and also ensures that the technical specifications are
as per the brief.


The company was granted approval from the ARAI to develop gas powered
generators certified by the CPCB-Central Pollution Control Board of India to be
compliant with the mass emission norms. This has further given impetus to the
company to develop the next gen gas engines that are compliant with the Clean
Power movement of India. Having said this, the Cooper has entered into a
collaboration with Ricardo, UK for the designing of futuristic engines that are fuel
efficient as well as comply with the emission norms of the respective country.


Designing of engines is a long process that can take upto 3 years for fructification.
The collaboration with Ricardo has seen the launch more than 52 variants of engines
in three years. Cooper engines are supplied to various OEMs- Original Equipment
Manufacturers and automotive manufacturers across the globe. In the aspect of
compliance to environmental norms, Cooper engines have obtained certification from
all the respective countries such as Euro IV, USEPA, CPCB norms for which reason,
exports to other countries such as Europe, North America, Africa, Middle East etc. is
